PLACE

The San Luis Obispo Coast is a special place for white wines. I truly believe it should be in the broader conversation as one of the great wine white regions of the world. We source grapes from vineyards anywhere from 2 to 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The region’s maritime influenced extreme cool-climate and diverse volcanic and oceanic soils allow the incredible opportunity to showcase white wines filled with vibrant energy, minerality, and a whole lot of individual character. Our region is the single coolest growing region in all of California. This results in one of the longest, if not, the single longest growing season on the West Coast. That long growing season allows us to get the best of both worlds …. slowly ripened fruit full of flavor all while preserving the natural acidity that defines the Cadre wines. 

AROMATICS

We knew we wanted this wine to explore the spice and herbal elements of white wine. It was a no brainer to make it Grüner Veltliner and Sauvignon Blanc dominant as these two varietals deliver spicy white pepper and exotic herbal elements. However, we are in California where we have no shortage of sunshine that gives us ripe fleshy fruit. Blending in Albariño brings in more tropical fruit, but also some high toned salty citrus. The final blend is loaded with aromatics of white flowers, citrus, salty spice, and green herbal intrigue (think fennel, cilantro and tarragon).

PALATE

On the palate, citrus and fleshy tropical fruit come into play with an ultimate finish full of zest and texture. There is a collection of white pepper, spicey fleshy citrus and tropical fruit. With this wine’s 72% barrel fermentation and aging, the finish shows a textured creaminess which plays well with marrying citrus spice and texture.
